Oliver Hume on winning streak in North Melbourne
March 2016
PROPERTY services group Oliver Hume is becoming a major force in Melbourne’s inner northern suburbs where it has sold out three projects and is about to launch another.
The company, which has been appointed as marketing agent for more than $1.2 billion of Melbourne residential development projects, has enjoyed particular success with its Oliver Hume Property Funds projects.
One of those projects, the 143 apartment Nord towers, on Flemington Road in North Melbourne, sold out soon after being launched.
Construction is progressing ahead of the forecast program, with completion set for March/April 2016.
Another project, Principal at 69 Flemington Road, has sold out 60 per cent of its 164 dwellings despite only launching in September 2015.
Oliver Hume Director Jamie Kay said the success of the project was due in part to the excellent lifestyle infrastructure in Melbourne’s inner north, including restaurants and entertainment, which was especially attractive to younger professional buyers and renters.
“Young people are going to make up more than 40 per cent of apartment buyers over the next three years and they want to live close to the CBD in lifestyle precincts with café culture and nightlife,” Mr Kay said.
“The projects we are marketing are located in some of Melbourne’s most attractive areas, close to restaurants, transport, shopping, and other amenities.”
At its sold out Nord development which will have its leasing launch on April 16, and its future apartment projects, Oliver Hume will capitalise on millennials need for convenience by offering a “lifestyle manager” who will take care of routine tasks such as signing for parcels, doing online shopping and giving tradespeople access.
The next Oliver Hume project to be launched to the market will be Parkville at 539-545 Royal Parade Parkville, just 3 kilometres north of the CBD.
Oliver Hume has DA approval for 20 luxury apartments, which it will start selling from June this year.
