About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Group Accountant to join our Southbank Head Office and play a pivotal role within our finance leadership team.
Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, this position is responsible for the financial and management reporting of the Oliver Hume Group, while leading a team of four finance professionals across financial accounting, accounts receivable and accounts payable functions.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant looking to step into a broader group accounting and leadership role within a dynamic property focused business.
You will be responsible for delivering accurate and insightful financial reporting, supporting budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring compliance across multiple entities, and driving continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function.
Key responsibilities include:
- Prepare and deliver monthly divisional and group management reports.
- Produce profit and loss reporting, variance analysis and financial commentary.
- Prepare monthly balance sheets and oversee reconciliation processes.
- Lead month end processes and ensure timely completion of all reporting requirements.
- Review and approve journals including accruals, prepayments, payroll and commissions.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory reporting obligations.
- Support taxation compliance including BAS, GST, PAYG, and FBT reporting.
- Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
- Identify and implement process improvements across financial systems and reporting.
- Support the ongoing enhancement of financial controls, policies and procedures.
About the Person
The successful candidate will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting or Commerce.
- CA or CPA qualified.
- 6+ years' experience in financial accounting, management reporting or group accounting.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing a team providing functional finance support to an organisation.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong financial modelling capability.
- Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage senior stakeholders.
- Experience within property, real estate, development, funds management or professional services.
- Exposure to NetSuite or other large ERP systems.
- Experience using Power BI, Salesforce and SAP Concur.
- Experience working within multi-entity group structures.
