QMI: March 2023

“Market conditions remain challenging with higher interest rates, inflation, cost of living pressures and continuing (and much publicised) building industry issues affecting consumer and buyer sentiment.

Market activity is expected to remain soft over the coming months.

With the post COVID-19 moderation in demand now largely complete, attention is focussing on interest rates and future moves by the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA).While the immediate and short-term outlook remains challenging, the medium to long term outlook for the residential land and broader property markets remains robust being underpinned by continued improvements in property market fundamentals and steady economic and employment growth.

An active residential greenfield market across our capital cities and regional markets is critical to meeting housing requirements both now and in the future. It is also critical to ensuring improved affordability and delivering the dwelling types required given current and emerging demographics.”
